Miss Marlana
Marlana Walsh-Doyal is from Massachusetts and graduated from Point Park University in 2001 with a BA in Dance. She has performed many roles in the Point Park Dance Company as well as dancing at the American College Dance Festival. Marlana has been dancing with Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, for the past seven years and was a major part of it’s reorganization in 2003. She has worked with many talented choreographers including Robert Battle, Jason Parsons, Eddy Ocampo, Salim Gaulwoos, Peter Chu, Kate Skarpetowska, Charoltte Griffin, Kiki Lucas and Joe Celej. While the company is her main focus, Marlana also fills in her time choreographing, teaching and judging in Houston and throughout the United States. Her choreography was selected to represent Point Park at ACDFA in Bowling Green, Ohio in 2001. Since then her work has been requested and presented at numerous events including the International Summer Dance Festival at Point Park, Houston Metropolitan Dance Center’s Met Too, Houston’s Levi Strauss/ Wal-Mart Fashion Show, Sam Houston State University and the Steven Boyd Dance Ensemble. Her students have won numerous choreography awards and Marlana enjoys teaching the determination,focus and passion she has for dance.
