Auditions

Dear Boni’s Dance Studio Parents,

Exciting news! Auditions for Boni’s En Toure, the studio’s competitive dance troupe, will be held on Friday, April 27th 2012, and any student age seven and older who would like to be a part of the team is eligible to try out. In the past, auditions were by teacher recommendation only, but now we would like to give all of our Boni’s studio dancers this opportunity. If you would like to audition, you must register no later than Monday April 16th.

The Boni’s En Toure Team is a bi-level troupe comprised of Boni’s En Toure (BET), and Boni’s En Toure Too (BET Too). Dancers who audition will be considered for one of those levels according to his/her technical abilities and stage presence. BET is the most competitive and advanced, requiring the highest amount of time and commitment. BET dancers take more rigorous classes and rehearse more often than BET Too dancers, and they compete at five to six major competitions and/or conventions annually. BET Too is an apprentice level, lighter in requirements, and meant to ease dancers into the competitive world. BET Too dancers attend an average of two to three competitions and/or conventions annually, and they often move up to BET after one or two years, but this is not a guarantee.

BET and BET Too members in general train more during the week than the average Boni’s student in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and modern, and they rehearse group dances on the weekends in preparation to compete in the spring season. We will also have a team of specifically hip-hop dancers, so we would like to invite all those interested in being a part of a hip hop team to audition. Members also participate in a wide variety of performances, fundraisers, workshops, and conventions, and they are also responsible for upholding the code of attendance and conduct outlined in the BET contract. A copy of this document is available upon request at the front office.

We welcome all studio dancers to audition, but here are a few things to consider:

Talk to your child’s dance teacher if you would like, and he/she will give you an honest opinion as to whether or not your child is a good candidate for Boni’s En Toure.
Understand that not every dancer who auditions will be accepted on to BET or BET Too, and prepare your child ahead of time for the possibility that he/she may not be selected at all. Unfortunately we have a limit on how many dancers we can take.
Be prepared to invest time and finances beyond what you currently do if your child is selected (should you choose to commit), but know that it will be worth the invaluable training, experiences, opportunities, and friends he/she will surely gain as a result.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
Monday,April 16t, 2012. Everyone must register and submit a check of $20 to audition. Registration forms and audition details are available at the front office.

AUDITION DATE:
April 27th, 2012 at Boni’s Dance Studio. Dancers ages 11 and under will audition from 5:00-6:30pm; dancers ages 12 and up will audition from 6:30-8:00pm.
